Hermès has just confirmed that a boutique dedicated to its Chinese luxury brand Shang Xia will be opening in Paris at the end of this year. It will replace a Furla store on the Sèvres road, covering an area of 80 square metres.
Shang Xia will also be seeing the launch of a second store in China, this time in Beijing, which will also open its doors at some point towards the end of 2012. The luxury brand currently operates only one boutique in Shanghai.
As for Hermès, the French fashion house has around 40 stores in Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).
It used to open 3 to 4 stores in that region every year but it decided to reduce that number to 1 to 2 due to its limited manufacturing capacity. However, for about twenty years now, Japan has been the French company’s number 1 market.
