Grayson Perry è in mostra al British Museum dove espone sia i suoi nuovi lavori che alcuni ancora inediti. L'opera cardine è la Tomba dell'artigiano sconosciuto (The Tomb of the unknown Craftsman),decorato in ghisa, bara-nave in onore di tutti gli artisti-artigiani caduti nell'oblio nei decenni. Il percorso oggettistico, accuratamente scelto da Perry in due anni di ricerca nei magazzini del British Museum, è stato selezionato con criteri esclusivamente estetico -commemorativi, ma nel processo si è venuta a creare una vera e propria catarsi; infatti nel loro assemblage visivo globale questi oggetti-opere ci offrono un viaggio tra le più varie tematiche tra cui le reliquie sante, la cultura contemporanea, lo sciamanesimo , le moto. Ed ecco che il visitatore si trasforma in pellegrino nel luogo di culto, sfidato a decifrare connessioni semantiche tra oggetti in apparenza non relazionati, è in gioco la metafora del tempio-museo, dell'oggetto rivelatore.... Grayson Perry is on display at the British Museum, where not only exposes his own works but it is also the exclusive curator of the event. The exhibition explores themes very different, such as travels, sacred relics and shamanism, contemporary culture and motorbikes. Perry shows off his new works and also works as yet unshown. At the heart of the event is his extraordinary new creation, The Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman, a decorated cast-iron coffin-ship in honor of all artists and craftsmen forgotten.
