“A partial list of featured artist include these major names: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Blu, Martha Cooper, Shepard Fairey, Stelios Faitakis, Futura, Phil Frost, Os Gemeos, Keith Haring, Todd James, Margaret Kilgallen, Lady Pink, Barry McGee, Steve “ESPO” Powers, Lee Quinones, Retna, Kenny Scharf, Swoon, Ed Templeton and of course Dr. Dax, the purveyor of our evil twin other blog Snort This.
As if the show itself wasn’t heavy enough, there is now an Art In the Streets Companion Book. Put together by new MOCA Director Jeffrey Deitch, Roger Gastman (History of American Graffiti), Aaron Rose (Beautiful Losers), the book is a testament to graffiti street art and its encompassing story from as early as the 20th century. What’s more interesting is that it doesn’t just do this from a national perspective, it does so from a global one. If we don’t make it to the exhibition, the book should be the next best thing.”
