GABRIEL OROZCO - New book out now !

Jessica Morgan's new book about Gabriel Orozco, out now:
"Alongside curating Gabriel Orozco’s retrospective for Tate, which opens today, I have been writing a book on his work, which to my delight has now arrived. For over a year I visited Gabriel in Mexico and New York to interview him about his art, and this book covers his work  from the early 1990s until now.
Not all artists are keen to talk about their work and even fewer are very good at it. Gabriel however, has a precise but also inventive way of speaking about what he does. That may partly come from his ability to speak a few languages – and the titles of his artworks also show how much he enjoys words. One of the phrases that he used about his work that impressed me was his description of sculpture being ‘like a fruit’ – with layers that can be peeled off but a core at the centre. It is similar to another idea that he often mentions to do with the explosion from a centre that characterizes the origin of the universe.
With Gabriel’s work, everything seems to come back to the sphere or the circle. It is a form that you see throughout his work but also an idea that recurs organically".
