In tanti anni di visite a Basilea (ho fatto 2 edizioni di Scope quando lavoravo con la galleria milanese Project B, poi sono stata sempre sia per lavoro che per “vedere cose”) non sono mai riuscita a visitare il VITRA design museum all’interno del VITRA campus.
Un vero e proprio campus, fondato nel 1989 dal gruppo Vitra e il proprietario Roldal Fehlbaum, dove negli anni, sono stati invitati grandi architetti per costruire buildings diversi. Il risultato una vera oasi di design: il museo firmato Frank O’ Gehry, i factory buildings di Alvaro Siza e Nicholas Grimshaw, la fire station di Zaha Hadid, il padiglione per le conference di Tadao Ando, il duomo di Buckminster Fuller, la petrol station di Jean Prouvé, i balancing tools di Claes Oldenburg e Coosje van Bruggen, e la Vitra haus di Herzog & de Meuron …
